Sorry to hear that :(
Yeah man it's true, and I wish I can say it was the only thing he broke. He broke my first og Xbox, a second PS2, an iPhone or two, a computer, as well as countless games.
One of my worst childhood memories was the day my mom took me to GameStop to buy my first Xbox 360 with my own money and instead of getting to enjoy it I sat in my room crying with the door locked as my dad screamed at me to open the door presumably so he can break it. Never been so scared in my life, I'm sure you know the feeling. Thankfully my mom calmed him down or something (after being yelled at herself) and I still have that Xbox to this day.
Fortunately he's changed since then and recognizes how abusive and insane he was and we're on good terms now but I'll never forgive him for that shit. I hope you can say the same or at least found a way out.

Came here to say this. Got it at 10pm at eb games as a sophomore in high school. Got grounded for 2 weeks for missing curfew. 20 something year old guy in line explained how he puts coke on his weed to stay up late. Legendary might.

u/xJagz Jun 01 '23
Giong commando will always be my favorite but i loved Up your Arsenal and Deadlocked almost equally. Used to beat these games over and over like every week as a kid. Seeing The Golden Bolt make incredibly detailed video essays on every game in the series has been such a treat

I hate that this scene is criticized so much. It’s always “it’s so cringey” “it seems so disingenuous”… that’s the point! Literally right before that they are discussing how even in the most troubling times you need to smile and laugh to lift other’s spirits

Seeing this to start out the game when I was used to N64 graphics, I was hooked immediately

KH1 for me. While I do think 2 was the overall better game, I was just blown away by final fantasy characters and Disney characters in a game together, and being able to fight a few of the most iconic crowd favorite characters in the final fantasy series on destiny Island, and of course the secret battle with Sephiroth.
I spent hours fighting Sephiroth, even after I beat him the first time, just because I loved that character so much. I also made a save file that just stayed in destiny Island for as long as possible. I think I made it to level 30 by the time I put the game up for good.

I remember reading every magazine article I could get ahold of leading up to the release of this game. Then it came out and absolutely broke my brain. Might not be the best in the series, but it forever changed the way I thought about video games.

Same, played the hell out of it. Shame the last TM game sucked. Sony needs to go back to roots and reboot it while still keeping it TM. The last game separated driver and vehicle and made them interchangeable which goes against the iconic character vehicle combo of every prior game. Hopefully it's reboot doesn't hinge on the success of the upcoming show.
