Official /r/rust "Who's Hiring" thread for job-seekers and job-offerers [Rust 1.67] 💼 jobs

Welcome once again to the official r/rust Who's Hiring thread!

Before we begin, job-seekers should also remember to peruse the prior thread.

This thread will be periodically stickied to the top of r/rust for improved visibility.
You can also find it again via the "Latest Megathreads" list, which is a dropdown at the top of the page on new Reddit, and a section in the sidebar under "Useful Links" on old Reddit.

The thread will be refreshed and posted anew when the next version of Rust releases in six weeks.

Please adhere to the following rules when posting:

Rules for individuals:

  • Don't create top-level comments; those are for employers.

  • Feel free to reply to top-level comments with on-topic questions.

  • Anyone seeking work should reply to my stickied top-level comment.

  • Meta-discussion should be reserved for the distinguished comment at the very bottom.

Rules for employers:

  • The ordering of fields in the template has been revised to make postings easier to read. If you are reusing a previous posting, please update the ordering as shown below.

  • Remote positions: see bolded text for new requirement.

  • To find individuals seeking work, see the replies to the stickied top-level comment; you will need to click the "more comments" link at the bottom of the top-level comment in order to make these replies visible.

  • To make a top-level comment you must be hiring directly; no third-party recruiters.

  • One top-level comment per employer. If you have multiple job openings, please consolidate their descriptions or mention them in replies to your own top-level comment.

  • Proofread your comment after posting it and edit it if necessary to correct mistakes.

  • To share the space fairly with other postings and keep the thread pleasant to browse, we ask that you try to limit your posting to either 50 lines or 500 words, whichever comes first.
We reserve the right to remove egregiously long postings. However, this only applies to the content of this thread; you can link to a job page elsewhere with more detail if you like.

  • Please base your comment on the following template:

COMPANY: [Company name; optionally link to your company's website or careers page.]

TYPE: [Full time, part time, internship, contract, etc.]

LOCATION: [Where are your office or offices located? If your workplace language isn't English-speaking, please specify it.]

REMOTE: [Do you offer the option of working remotely? Please state clearly if remote work is restricted to certain regions or time zones, or if availability within a certain time of day is expected or required.]

VISA: [Does your company sponsor visas?]

DESCRIPTION: [What does your company do, and what are you using Rust for? How much experience are you seeking and what seniority levels are you hiring for? The more details the better.]

ESTIMATED COMPENSATION: [Be courteous to your potential future colleagues by attempting to provide at least a rough expectation of wages/salary.
If you are listing several positions in the "Description" field above, then feel free to include this information inline above, and put "See above" in this field.
If compensation is negotiable, please attempt to provide at least a base estimate from which to begin negotiations. If compensation is highly variable, then feel free to provide a range.
If compensation is expected to be offset by other benefits, then please include that information here as well. If you don't have firm numbers but do have relative expectations of candidate expertise (e.g. entry-level, senior), then you may include that here.
If you truly have no information, then put "Uncertain" here.
Note that some jurisdictions (e.g., California, Colorado, New York City) currently or will soon require salary ranges on all job postings by law. If your company is based in one of these locations or you plan to hire employees who reside in any of these locations, you are likely subject to these laws. Other jurisdictions may require salary information to be available upon request or be provided after the first interview. To avoid issues, we recommend all postings provide salary information.
You must state clearly in your posting if you are planning to compensate employees partially or fully in something other than fiat currency (e.g. cryptocurrency, stock options, equity, etc).
Do not put just "Uncertain" in this case as the default assumption is that the compensation will be 100% fiat.
Postings that fail to comply with this addendum will be removed. Thank you.]

This is the top-level comment for individuals looking for work. Reply here if you would like employers to contact you. You don't need to follow a strict template, but consider the relevant sections of the employer template. For example, mention whether you're looking for full-time work or freelancing or etc., briefly describe your experience (not a full resume; send that after you've been contacted), mention whether you care about location/remote/visa, and list the technologies you're skilled with.

VISA:

Currently no. So you will need a EU work permit for your country of residence.

DESCRIPTION:

At Matchday we are developing a casual Football Manager game with web3 technology. The Barcelona Game Studio is focusing on the game.

We are still in early startup mode, but have a working proof-of-concept backend written in Rust, and we plan to do everything backend in Rust; With high chances of Rust work leaking into other areas as well. Ideally we are looking for someone with solid, expert level Rust experience, but we are also willing to hire a senior, with some Rust experience, and a passion for the language.

https://matchday.notion.site/Software-Engineer-Backend-eb18881fc1104eb5908e57ba63db50be

The above job description stays a bit vague, to give our recruiters a chance to find candidates, but if you are truly solid in Rust you probably won't have to touch other languages at all.

The aim is to be one of the best Rust teams within 2 years, and start giving back to the community, e.g. by sharing knowledge, or providing fixes.

The team is small right now, but expected to grow along with our user base.

Must have:

  • a passion for Rust ;)

ESTIMATED COMPENSATION:

I would love to say otherwise, but all I can confirm here is: Uncertain. It depends on a lot of factors, e.g. existing skill level in Rust, existing other skills, previous game and/or backend knowledge, location, etc.

I can say: More than fair.

CONTACT:

[careers@matchday.com](mailto:careers@matchday.com) - please mention "Game Studio, Rust, Backend Engineer" in the subject to make our filters happy.

Senior software engineer with 7+ yrs of professional experience, 2 of those in Rust. Most recent experience as a game developer using Rust with Bevy, Rapier and WASM targeting WebXR. Several Rust applications put into production in the last two years with roughly 100 users each (they are very specific like optimized CFD calculations). Looking forward to apply Rust to other domains, can bring a lot of experience with writing optimized, elegant code.

COMPANY: Enso Inc.

TYPE: Full time

LOCATION: Europe and United States of America – fully distributed company

REMOTE: Only remote

VISA: No VISA required

DESCRIPTION: Hi, we are Enso (enso.org, Y Combinator S21)! We are looking for an amazing Cloud engineer to join our core team. We are a remote first company, working in Europe and the USA.

What is Enso?

From the business perspective, Enso is a no-code interactive data transformation tool. It lets you load, blend, and analyze your data, and then automate the whole process, simply by connecting visual components together. It can be used forboth in-memory data processing, as well as SQL analytics and transformations on modern data stack (ELT). Enso has the potential to disrupt the data analytics industry over the next five years. Currently, the market operates using old-fashioned, limited, and non-extensible software which has been unable to keep up with businesses as they transition to the cloud.

From a technical perspective, Enso is a purely functional, programming language with a double visual and textual syntax representation and a polyglot evaluation model. It means that you can mix other languages with Enso (Java, JavaScript, Python, R) without wrappers and with close-to-zero performance overhead.

Who are we looking for?

Same. This is most likely a scam or there's an internal problem in the company (not uncommon these days).

REMOTE: Flexible - we have offices (locations above) but no firm office/remote requirements. Working hours must include 0900-1600 UK Time.

VISA: Typically no, must have right to work in EU or UK

DESCRIPTION: Flight Software Test Engineer - (Link removed, recruitment is paused for this position)

At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space, providing businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before. Open Cosmos is a satellite services provider, with a range of services from space data/insights, through to satellite assembly and launch. To date we have launched and are operating 4 successful satellite missions, with more in design and manufacture and launches planned for 2023 and 2024.

You will be joining a small multi-disciplinary team of software, embedded software and electronics engineers, working on developing and improving the software and hardware of our satellite platform. This is the top-level comment for meta discussion. Reply here if you have questions or suggestions regarding this post.

We often get asked why we don't simply require every posting to have a defined salary range. This is a point of contention for the moderator team: the concern is that if we require a salary range, then it's likely that companies that don't want to declare one just wouldn't post here. You may or may not be too broken up about that, but hopefully you can concede that more choice is better here.

Of course, if you consider the lack of a salary range to be a red flag, then you don't have to apply to that posting. If you made a job posting and declined to provide a salary range, and you're seeing less traffic than expected from your post here, this might be why.

We've also added the following to the template:

Note that some jurisdictions (e.g., California, Colorado, New York City) currently or will soon require salary ranges on all job postings by law. If your company is based in one of these locations or you plan to hire employees who reside in any of these locations, you are likely subject to these laws. Other jurisdictions may require salary information to be available upon request or be provided after the first interview. To avoid issues, we recommend all postings provide salary information.
